Mild temperatures and sunny skies greeted the Krewe of King Arthur as it returned to the streets of New Orleans on Sunday, January 27, 2008, the traditional "family Sunday".    The
Krewe celebrated its 31st Anniversary with a grand parade featuring oer 20 floats, each designed especially by and for the Krewe.  

The next parade will tentatively roll on Sunday, February 15, 2009 on the traditional Uptown route.   Want to ride? Download an application!

The Krewe has several floats that were constructed in Valencia, Spain. It has unique floats for its Captain, King, and Queen. The Captain's float features Merlin the Magician holding a crystal ball in one hand and his wand in the other hand. The King's float featured two huge fire breathing dragons protecting the Castle of Camelot. A 3 meter prop of King Arthur tops the float protecting his Royal Majesty. Queen Guinevere's float features two swans swimming compete with water lilies. On the back of the float is a 16 foot prop of Queen Guinevere in front of her Castle. She holds in her hand a red rose, Guinevere's favorite flower. The krewe also feature, Rai, A Drop of Golden Sun, which is a huge female sun that turns to announce the theme for the year.

The Krewe will being its voyage at the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and Magazine Street. It will then continue down Napoleon to St. Charles Avenue where it turns right rolls all the way to downtown.

The parade passes in front of historic mansions and beautiful oak trees. The Captain will make his official stop at 4th and St. Charles Avenue continuing onward toward Lee Circle. The King and Queen will officially toast City officials at Gallier Hall.

The parade will continue to Canal Street, the widest street in America.  The parade will continue to Tchoupitoulas and Poydras where it disbands.
